Arrr… For the truly compulsive GoWalla user. This here application will perform an ever growing spiral search from your current location and will find any booty (items) you have not collected yet in all nearby locations. Yarr.. and it can be fine tuned to even help you lower the issue numbers of your existing collected items.
Why would you want to do all of this? Because you are compulsive. And gotta have them all.
Why am I charging $5??
This tool is incredibly effective at helping you find rare items. Rare items that I might also need. Rare items that other users of the application would just as soon hope that YOU never find. By making it cost as much as a draft beer, I can assure that only the devoted pirates find the treasure.
The Gowalla API be a shifty one. Gowalla changes the way their backend works ALL THE TIME, and with NO WARNING. I could do this application for free… but the upkeep would soon make it not worth the effort to update, and it would be a free broken application. By charging a few bucks, I can make it worth my time to deal with the GoWalla headache.

Beta is nearly 75% complete, and will soon be functional. Spent time today getting the picture taking, geocoordinate, and photo upload/thumbnail generating code working. And I’m proud to say 8 hours and countless test pictures of my cats later… all those major routines are laid down. Hoping that WWDC keynote (June 9th) will have an announcement that applications will be going on line right away. Should have a fully functioning Beta by then.
Also, I have decided to offer a special incentive to beta testers and early adopters. xHunt will be free to you, and when it goes into it’s final version you will be able to update no charge. Sort of a no-cover before 7pm sort of deal
Somewhere in a dark cellar, a circle of hooded figures convenes to lay out the rules of a twisted game. They play for the rush, to prove they are the best, because in the end only one of them will survive. A servant walks around the room with small sealed envelopes, handing them out to those gathered. Inside each is a name, a target. At a bar somewhere, a young woman finishes reading the name of her target and puts the envelope into a back pocket. She doesn’t notice the unremarkable business man at the other end of the bar; who stealthily glances at a picture in the palm of his hand and smiles; she also failed to notice the slight taste of nutmeg in the tequila shot she ordered. The short man is just in time to catch her as she falls to the floor, “She’s had too much, I’ll take care of her”, the short man leaves an unremarkable tip, and on his way out the door reaches into the now dead woman’s pocket and pulls out an envelope.
One down.
The game begins by randomly assigning each participant someone to “Assassinate” this information gets sent directly to the iPhone, along with a “Dossier” to help identify the subject. Using the iPhone’s built in camera as a weapon, the players must take a photograph of their target in order to assassinate them. If you have been assassinated, you will get sent the picture that shows your doom, and you are eliminated from the game, and your target now becomes the target of the person who assassinated you.
